Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She has written fifteen books and is the cofounder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is an author and philanthropist as well as a television host and owner of the independently free online news publication The Huffington Post. Born in Greece and relocated to England at age sixteen. In Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA in economics. The infamous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first presidency and she did it before the age of 21. She became a syndicated conservative writer following her graduation. When The Huffington Post launched a year after, she created an online platform to voice opinions that offered criticisms on the political landscape. Her fame and popularity helped in getting several high-profile contributors to publish their thoughts about news from the world of politics and culture. Arianna gained fame in 2003 after she decided to run independently for the California recall vote to succeed the Governor Davis. Arianna was also part of the Detroit-based initiative that advocated for efficient vehicles that use less fuel. Forbes named her the most powerful woman in the field of media in the year 2009. The newspaper was ranked as in the 12th spot on Forbes' ranking. The Guardian added her to the list of 100 most influential media for 2009. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. In 2012, she became the president of the media division at AOL. The group included several AOL-owned brands, including Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos was a daughter born to Konstantinos a management advisor and journalist. Although she was a close friend with her father, it was her relationship with her mother that shaped her character. In her earliest period, she displayed the qualities of a leader for which she is still well-known. Her move to England came at sixteen to further her studies and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. While in college and was in Cambridge Union, she joined the colleges debating societies, and eventually was its first foreign female president. She graduated in 1972 with an education in Economics. In the years following after graduation she was a critic columnist and television host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
